New springs!! Information please!

Postby rodbargee » 30 Nov 2012, 11:00

I am looking to have some new front leaf springs made for my sow, The engine thats fitted is a six cyl perkins diesel unit from a Ford with transfer box and hi low box. My front springs are tired and down on the bump stop at the front. Is there a standard "off the shelf" leaf spring for the sow, and where would I get some. Or if I have to have them manufactured are there any specifications available...lengths, widths, thickness of leafs etc. I do wonder if I should get the springs uprated a little as the front is down compared to the back. Maybe due to the engine being heavier than the Volvo ED engine.?

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Best.

Your local scrap metal merchant will have a weighbridge and if you ask them nicely and just drive front wheels on. But there are public weighbridges dotted around but you would have to pay but probably not much. Good luck
